On Thursday 4 April, the crews of the Norwegian tall ship Christian Radich and the Dutch tall ships Gulden Leeuw and Wylde Swan met up to discuss a major collaboration for 2020. The three tall ships are considering sailing together to the Arctic Circle.<\/p>\n

On the Christian Radich\u2019s initiative, a plan has been drawn up for an expedition along the Norwegian coast from Oslo to Harstad located north of the Arctic Circle. With stops every three days at different harbours and the chance to explore on land, passengers can join the ships for periods of three, six or more days.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt doesn\u2019t often happen that these kinds of ships seek each other out for such close collaboration. Our meeting was at Pean Sailing School where the Norwegian delegation also stayed overnight. After the necessary meetings, we went out in a valk dinghy and sailed to Grou for dinner,\u201d says Christophe Meijer of the Wylde Swan. \u201cOf course, it\u2019s great to go out in a valk with people that normally work on ships longer than 60 meters and with 1000 square meters of sail.\u201d<\/p>\n

The expedition is planned to start on 17 June in Oslo and then arrive in IJmuiden on 11 August in time for the run up to Sail Amsterdam.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
