Scotland Adventures

7 Day Isles trip

August 23 - August 29, 2019

Scrabster – Ullapool

Step aboard the Wylde Swan in Scrabster and discover the magical north coast of Scotland with its beautiful waters, rocky coastal islands and jagged cliff edges; a natural and adventurous playground for sailing and exploring. From the harbour of Scrabster we sail north for discovery along beautiful islands and places, such as Kirkwall, on to Fair Isle, south to Stromness (or another Orkney destination), west to Sule Skerry, west to N. Rona and then south to Ullapool. Weather and wind dependent, together with the captain, the travel program on board will be determined.

The harbour of Ullapool makes a coach available on the 22th of august to get to Scrabster. Please let us know if you want to use this.

About Scotland Adventures

Blessed with beautiful waters, rocky coastal islands and jagged cliff edges, Scotland is a natural adventure playground to sail around and explore. Ullapool, our second home which we discovered in 2011 has played a welcoming and generous host to us for 6 summer seasons and over 20 adventure voyages have been completed to some amazing places like St Kilda, Shiants, Fair Isle, Skerryvore, Orkney, Canna, Mull, Jura, Islay, Tiree, Knoydart, Stornoway, Gairloch, Summer Isles, Westry, Skye, Iona and more.

St. Kilda

This island was inscribed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 1986 in recognition of its Natural Heritage; for its exceptional natural beauty and for the significant natural habitats that it supports. A truly magnificent world renowned group of islands and sea stacs, the pinnacle of any Wylde Swan west coast adventure voyage.

Monach Islands

The Monach Islands are a lovely set of islands that have it all; remoteness, the “machair” (coastal land covered in many wild flowers) and stunning beaches. This is the perfect place for sunsets as it is open to the west from nearly every aspect. The extensive sand dunes are perfect for beach landings by tender and the fairly flat landscape makes easy walking, but with breathtaking views. There are sheltered anchorages on the west and east side of  the three main islands, Ceann Ear, Ceann Iar and Shivinish. These islands are all linked at low tide with white sandy beaches and turquoise blue sea surrounding them; an idyllic landscape.

The most southerly inhabited island of the Outer Hebrides, Vatersay epitomises island isolation, with a number of attractions that speak to the perilous and vulnerable nature of life on the edge – as well as many examples of the breathtaking island beauty that make the eternal struggle against the elements well worthwhile.
